It said click here for more info. I didn't know what it was, and wanted to know what it was/is it took me to a page telling about. I said to my self 'No this is not something I would want on my desktop' so I closed the page. I went on to gmail sent my email then cleared the browser history like I always do. Then closed the browser that is when I noticed a desk top icon saying Chrome app launcher. According to Digital Trends, Google is looking as though. Google Chrome is the most popular web browser in the world, and is the most widely used on the desktop platform. It is also known for slowing computers. BGR India 1 week ago - Technology: Google deprecating desktop Chromecast setup for Mac and PC with Chrome 72 The Chromecast. I was so mad. Then I noticed it in the task bar, it was flashing. I ignored it, because I was angry at Google that they had installed a program without me knowing it or asking me first. I started looking for a way to uninstall it when I clicked the start button there was the Chrome app launcher Icon pinned to the start menu made me even more angry. I can't figure out how to remove this stupid Chrome App launcher, that I didn't ask for, nor want it. I know removing the shortcuts doesn't remove the program only the shortcuts. Please, How do I remove it? I want it totally gone from my computer. Thank You PS: This also needs to be reported to Google. That its installing on people's PC with out asking first. Caver_tim, 1:51 น. Something installed, but there does not appear to be an uninstall in the places I have looked (add/remove programs, chrome://flags, chrome://settings, chrome://extensions). I have XP, so I have a desktop icon rather than a taskbar item. Right-click>Properties shows me that the target of the shortcut is: 'C: Documents and Settings (User) Local Settings Application Data Google Chrome Application chrome.exe' --show-app-list And the Start in is: 'C: Documents and Settings (User) Local Settings Application Data Google Chrome Application' Inside that App Data google chrome application folder are a couple folders that were created recently (profile folders?), possibly around the time Chrome App Launcher was added. So, I guess my question is, when the Chrome App Launcher was installed, did it actually install anything that wasn't there before, or did it just create a desktop shortcut icon that adds '--show-app-list' (and a different icon) to the regular chrome shortcut icon? Are there changes to my registry? Thanks for your any help. Caver_tim 4/11/2013, 8:49 น. The app launcher is just a link to a web page? It seems more like a 'Start button' for google apps. When opened, it shows up as a smaller window, bottom left of screen, with app icons.and a search box. It's possible that in fact it's just a funky web page that does not appear to open a browser, opens a window in a specific location in a specific size that can not be moved or resized, does not have an address or any of the other normal things found on web pages. It is definitey possible, as I do not claim to know that much about internet technology, but it definitely does not seem like it's just opening a link to a website. Especially since the shortcut target does not show that it is opening a link to a website, but rather that it is opening chrome, with '--show app list' added to the end of the action. Thanks for your help. Donaldbarnhouse 6/11/2013, 17:04 น. Outlook 2016 for mac print in black and white. ![]() You would think that if Google had more heart or brains they would have someone assigned to read these comments and questions and post clear answers. I changed from Microsoft Explorer to Google Chrome because Microsoft was treating people this way, and now Google is getting to be more and more like Microsoft. It seems as though as soon as you are signed up you are just a money making statistic and they don't even want to know that you exist, let alone listen to you or answer your questions. 'Form a chat group,' they seem to say, 'and share your ignorance.' If they would spend a few of their extra billions on setting up a LISTENING division, I think they would take over the industry and become so popular they could run Eric for president. To be more clear on this answer & expand, the 'Chrome App Launcher' for the desktop is a shortcut to load a local web page to the chrome apps that we were all use to seeing when browsing to the old 'New Tab' page; although its been recoded. The old 'New Tab' page was directly linked to chrome://apps (see attached Chrome-New Tab_old.png). There is two versions of the New Tab page that exist now (one of which is only in Chrome Beta) that involves the launcher. For the purposes of this we will call them Chrome-New Tab_1 & Chrome-New Tab_Beta. When App Launcher first came into play there was the 'App Launcher' button that appeared in the bookmark bar along with the Google logo and search box (see image Chrome-New Tab_1.png, this was the start of the Desktop launcher rollout. As the rollout progressed we saw both the bookmark bar app laucher and the desktop launcher if you selected to choose so via similar page to '.
